Second place - South Shore

The CESA 12 High Quiz Bowl tournament took place on Tuesday, March 18 at Northwood Tech in Ashland.
The 12 district teams that participated in the team-based academic competition were: Ashland, Bayfield, Butternut, Chequamegon, Drummond, Hayward, Hurley, Maple, Phillips, South Shore, Superior, Winter.
Kudos to all the students that participated in the regular season competition, and a big congratulations to our tournament winners.

The CESA 12 Regional Spelling Bee took place on Wednesday, February 5. There were 18 students from nine CESA 12 school districts that participated.
Jenna Balog, 8th grader at Hayward Middle School in Hayward was our champion with Liam Horowitz, 8th grader at Chequamegon Middle School in Glidden placing second. Both will represent CESA 12 at the State Spelling Bee in Madison on March 29.
The third and fourth place finishers respectively were Avelynn Sable, 4th grader at Lake Superior Elementary in Ashland and Nate Saarri, 8th grader from Washburn Middle School in Washburn. Both will serve as alternates for the State Spelling Bee should either Jenna or Liam not be able to participate.
Congratulations to all of the students that competed in the regional spelling bee, and best of luck to Jenna and Liam in Madison.


CESA 12 is seeking an individual to serve as a moderator for the upcoming High Quiz Bowl competition. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18 at Northwood Tech in Ashland. This individual will need to be available from 8 am-4 pm.
Retired teachers or individuals with instructional experience are encouraged to apply. This is a compensated position.
Please email Missy McCorison (Missym@cesa12.org), Program Coordinator at CESA 12, with a brief summary of your credentials by February 10th.

Tyler Bednarik, a junior at Drummond High School, is excelling in the Youth Apprenticeship program at Whiskey River Art and Trading Company. Under the mentorship of owner Brandon Roost, Tyler is diving into marketing communications, learning about online business management, and developing skills that will help him achieve his dream of owning his own business.
With hands-on experience in digital marketing and a flexible schedule, Tyler is building a strong foundation for his future while earning school credit, pay and taking courses with Northwood Technical College.
