Thirteen school districts (Ashland, Bayfield, Drummond, Hayward, Hurley, Maple, Mercer, Phillips, Seymour, South Shore, Superior, Washburn and Winter) participated in the regular season that began back in October. The winner of the 2025-26 High Quiz Bowl Regular Season was Hurley School District. Second place went to Ashland, with Hayward finishing Third.
Of the thirteen districts, ten competed in the tournament. Unfortunately, due to the snowstorm that hit northern Wisconsin the weekend preceding the tournament, Seymour and Winter were not able to participate; and Maple was on spring break.
Earning the win for the tournament was Hayward School District. Ashland took second place, and Superior took third.
Congratulations to all the districts that took home the hardware. And, THANK YOU to all participating students and coaches for another successful High Quiz Bowl season and tournament.
See you next year!

With hands-on, high-energy activities, students from 16 area districts got the chance to explore real career pathways, build skills, and spark new interests. One student said it best: “This was one of the coolest experiences—we actually got to try things instead of just hearing about them!” 👏
And let’s not forget the fantastic pizza lunch 🍕 that kept everyone fueled and smiling throughout the day!
Thank you for opening your doors, sharing your expertise, partering with area employers and CESA 12 Youth Apprenticeship and inspiring the next generation of our workforce. 🌟 #CTEMonth #YouthApprenticeship #NorthwoodTech #CareerExploration

Students stepped into the role of electricians for the day combining technical math, problem solving, and communication to plan and execute precise conduit bends using real tools and field techniques.
One student summed it up perfectly: “You really have to think ahead and be accurate—once you bend it, there’s no going back!” 🔧
Experiences like this turn curiosity into confidence. Thank you for sharing your craft and showing students what it truly takes to succeed in Electrical Youth and Registered Apprenticeships! ✨

Students explored Plumbing Youth and Registered Apprenticeships through a dynamic activity focused on communication and teamwork, stepping into both mentor and apprentice roles. They worked together to assemble a P-trap system, guiding one another through each step just like it happens on the job.
By teaching their peers, students experienced firsthand how clear instructions, patience, and collaboration are essential in the trades. One student shared, “It was cool learning how to explain it to someone else—and now I feel like I could actually fix something at home if it breaks!” 👏
Thank you for sharing your time, expertise, and for showing students that these are not just career skills, but life skills they can take back to their families and communities. 🌟

A special thank you to Kristi Nortunen for all the work she does behind the scenes to support CESA12 Youth Apprenticeship and the Mellen School District.
Kristi is always willing to jump in and help support the local coordinator and make sure the program continues to run smoothly for students and employers. So much of what makes Youth Apprenticeship successful happens quietly in the background, and Kristi is someone who consistently goes the extra mile to support faculty, students and CTE opportunities.
We truly appreciate the care and dedication she brings to this work and the difference it makes for Mellen students and our YA C12 Consortium overall. Thank you, Kristi, for being such a strong partner in Youth Apprenticeship.

Heather Pritzl was surprised with the Most Impactful Mentor Award, and it could not have gone to a more deserving leader.
Heather shared:
" I was truly surprised and honored to receive the Most Impactful Mentor Award. Being presented this award by Wyatt, such a kind and thoughtful student, made the moment even more meaningful. Thank you to the Sources of Strength leadership team and Brittany Redden for this recognition. I’m so proud to be part of a group that uplifts, supports, and makes a difference every day."
In our Youth Apprenticeship program, we witness that impact firsthand.
Heather brings her healthcare expertise, steady encouragement, and open door approach to every student she works with. She creates spaces where students feel safe, capable, and seen. That kind of mentorship shapes confidence and careers.
Her leadership in Sources of Strength and her dedication to supporting students reflect the very heart of Youth Apprenticeship: guidance, growth, and meaningful relationships that extend beyond the classroom.
Heather, thank you for the way you invest in students and strengthen our school community. We are proud to celebrate you and grateful to have you as part of our CESA 12 YA family not just during CTE Month, but every day!
