School to Work
Schools in Wisconsin can offer a wide variety of work based learning, or school to Work programs, that provide students the opportunity to be employed at a work site for part of the school day. Students who participate in one of the program options that a school might offer are typically enrolled in a Career and Technical Education course and earn credit for completing the course and work assignment. There are a variety of options including cooperative education, youth apprenticeship, internship and employability skills programs. The rules which govern School To Work programs in schools can be found at the DPI workbased learning site. School to Work programs must comply with child labor laws and properly supervised by a School to Work coordinator. CESA 12 can provide consultants to assist school districts in planning and implementing a School to Work program. For more information contact Jim Lee at (715) 682-2363 ext 124.
