Positive Behavioral Intervention & Support (PBIS)
What is PBIS?
PBIS is a broad range of proactive, systemic, and individualized strategies for achieving important social and learning outcomes in safe and effective environments while preventing problem behavior with all students (George Sugai, 2007).
PBIS works because it helps students understand what is expected of them, gives teachers a framework for acknowledgement and consequences and enables administrators to use data –rather than gut reactions – to make decisions about discipline.
