Regional Service Networks (RSN)  

The mission of the 12 CESA Regional Service Networks is to improve the quality of educational services to students with disabilities through a statewide network of representatives from each CESA in cooperation with DPI. Each RSN will provide a comprehensive system of personnel development that unites communication, staff development, and leadership.

Regional Service Network provides regular and special educators, parents and non-education professionals with information, planning and inservice training on a wide variety of special education issues and concerns. The RSN is designed to assist districts in dealing with ongoing challenges in serving students with special educational needs in the following ways:

• To disseminate information related to special education in the areas of court decisions, research in the areas of special education, new ideas in innovations in instructional practices and changes in state or federal regulations
• To plan and facilitate staff development and training related to handicapped children
• To provide a focus for regional collaboration in planning, decision-making, and coordinating service delivery systems that generate creative solutions to mutually defined problems

The RSN Coordinator attends monthly meetings at the Department of Public Instruction and shares ideas, innovations, research and Department of Public Instruction initiatives with local agency representatives at meetings held at CESA 12. CESA 12 Special Education Directors meet monthly with the RSN Coordinator to facilitate the coordination of regional planning, information dissemination and discussion of special education concerns.
